Image 048, is of a drake Mallard coming into land on a very calm piece of water resulting in a great reflection. It isn’t very often that all the elements come together but when they do, you need to be on top of your game and make the most of it.
Mallard, Anas platyrhynchos, Gailey, Staffordshire.

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous! Looks like he is walking on water
What a wonderful shot! My photographic involvement to this point has mainly involved plants because they don’t tent to move on you, except in high winds. Last week I decided to expand my subject matter and try animals. I started with mallard ducks. I had a very difficult time with many aspects of this. Tracking a slowly swimming duck and avoiding distracting reflections were just a few I encountered. So when I see what a professional like you can do, I am blown away.
Hi Rick, thanks for visiting my blog and your kind words about my images. This image was one of those moments where every element worked together. There was no wind giving these still waters. I had to wait for a short duration before this mallard came down but it was worth the wait. It could have flown straight through but I’m glad it didn’t. Everything and everybody was in the right place at the right time. A bit of luck and lots of patience also played its part!
