Fox Greeting Card

133/365 Kingfisher Part V

Here’s another image I’ve finished processing from a session last week.  This individual was watching a buzzard soaring overhead.  When you have watched Kingfishers for several hours you find out what makes them tick and start to predict what they are going to do next.  Hearing a Buzzard calling I knew this Kingfisher would instantly look up at the sky when it flew over.  They do this ‘sky pointing’ behaviour quite a lot and to most things… gulls, helicopters, herons…so I had plenty of opportunities to get this image.  I kept this bird fairly small in the frame as well.  I could have easily placed the 1.4x converter on and achieved a bigger image in portrait orientation but felt this was a better composition.

Heres another image from my session with the Kingfisher.  This is taken in overcast conditions late morning.

130/365 Kingfisher Part II

I had another session this morning with the Kingfisher.  A 4.45 start allowed me to get into place in time and wait for the sun to pop its head over the bank, lighting just the bird and plunging everything else into darkness. Although I’m extremely pleased with this image a photographer is never happy as it wasn’t the image I was after but tomorrow is another day.

It’s been an absolute manic few weeks and as such my blog has had to take a bit of a back burner.  To kick start it off again is the next image of the 365, number 129 is of a European Kingfisher I photographed last week.  I shall be visiting this site again so fingers crossed it will perform as well as it did on this occasion.

Picture 001/365

After having a really nice break off over Christmas and New Year im now fully charged and ready to go. One of my projects is to post 365 images throughout 2012. These could be images I have photographed on that day, or some of my favourites from the past.
To kick start it all off, heres an image of a Blue-eared Kingfisher from Borneo.  Not that I’m wanting to be in a warmer or less windy climate.  😉
