New locations always throw up difficulties and this new Bee-eater colony was no exception. A few sessions here provided some nice results and I can’t want to try out some new ideas next year. Here’s a pair in the last rays of the sun.
European Bee-eater, Merops apiaster, Hungary, 2013.
Im my opinion, next to Kingfisher, the Bee-eater has got to be the most colourful bird in Europe. They are absolutely stunning and the noise they make is superb. It was around 35c whilst I was taking these images and as a result this bird is panting. They breathing very quickly to pass cooler air through the lungs to cool them down.
Bee-eater, Merops apiaster, Pusztaszer, Hungary, June, 2012.
